NATIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE COALITION PRAISES GOVERNOR CULVER'S INVESTMENT IN IOWA'S FUTURE
Legislation Will Help Create Jobs, Increase Safety and Quality of Life for Iowans
Washington, DC – Iowa Governor Chet Culver (D-IA) yesterday signed Senate File 2389, the “Infrastructure and Capitals Budget,” $273.7 million investment in the state’s transportation and infrastructure systems. The legislation included an expansion of the I-JOBS project and the state’s Rebuild Iowa Infrastructure Fund (RIIF).
In response, Marcia Hale, president of Building America’s Future, issued the following statement:
“We want to thank Governor Culver for recognizing the value of job creation, the importance of investing in infrastructure, and the never-ending drive to promote economic development. Investments in infrastructure projects do not just give us better roads, better bridges and more transit alternatives. This $273.7 million dollar budget will be an investment in the state’s workforce, local economies and future. Iowa will be a better state because of Governor Culver’s leadership in disaster recovery projects and infrastructure investment.”
Building America’s Future (www.BAFuture.org) is a bipartisan and national infrastructure coalition comprised of state and locally elected officials to help secure a renewed and reformed federal commitment to infrastructure.
Co-chaired by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (R-CA), Governor Ed Rendell (D-PA) and Mayor Michael Bloomberg (I-NYC), Building America’s Future is dedicated to smart infrastructure investment – energy systems, roads and bridges, mass transit, water and sewer systems, rail, ports, airports, levees and dams, schools and housing – to enhance the quality of life and safety of our communities, create jobs and economic growth, and promote energy independence.
