COALITION PRAISES U.S. CONFERENCE OF MAYORS’ SUPPORT OF NATIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE BANK
Bank Will Create American Jobs, Increase Safety and Quality of Life
Washington, DC –The U.S. Conference of Mayors passed a resolution this week in support of the creation of a National Infrastructure Bank to facilitate economic growth and job creation. In response, Marcia Hale, president of Building America’s Future, issued the following statement:
“We applaud America’s Mayors for recognizing the value of establishing a National Infrastructure Bank. Investments in infrastructure projects do not just give us better roads and bridges, safer water supplies and more transit alternatives; they are also investments in our local economies, workforce and future. The need is clear – too many cities have congested roads, outdated water systems, and decaying bridges. But the recession has left many with less tax revenue and budget deficits. The Bank will go along way towards addressing our nation’s infrastructure funding shortfalls. We urge Congress and the Obama Administration to create a National Infrastructure Bank focused on financing projects of regional and national importance.”
